AMW Contractors Ltd was founded in 1990 by Mark Walker who remains at the forefront of this innovative company. The company developed organically through contracting and ground works and with a keen interest in the environment has grown to develop and assist companies with ever changing environmental legislation.
Today our customer base includes Amey LG, BP, ENWL and Balfour Beaty, we also work with many of the major Loss Adjustors. As well as offering a 24/7 Emergency Response service AMW's expertise allows its clients to benefit from a 'Cradle to Grave' service, as we are able to deal with the initial incident, develop and implement the necessary remedial strategies and gain validation with the regulators.

Mark Walker - Managing Director

Founder of AMW in 1990, initially as a ground works and contracting company, however after securing a site maintenance contract with a local BP distribution terminal he developed the emergency response capability of the business over the next three years. Mark attended pollution exercises at every opportunity, culminating in becoming one of the few qualified Incident Commanders outside of the Fire Service. Simultaneously studying remediation programs and techniques he went on to design and build AMW's own range of equipment for which we have obtained mobile plant/treatment licences. Over the years the business has developed and a dedicated team has been established which has provided the opportunity to fully develop the additional services now provided by AMW.
Mark has never forgotten the values established in the early years of business, that has always been to deliver what you promise.
Grant Litherland - Projects Manager

E: 2004 - Grant Litherland joined AMW as a Project Manager, primarily developing and overseeing AMWs growing industrial services sector, remediation arm and 24/7 response.
Grants background in mechanical engineering allowed him to grow and develop his own company involved in specialist heavy industrial cleaning, leading to a successful disposal in 2003. Grant joined AMW in time to project manage the extensive Carlisle floods program over a 20 month period. Grant remains at the heart of daily management and operations.
Malcolm Hendrie - Commercial Director

E: 2008 - Malcolm joined AMW after 32 years successful marketing for a family owned fuel and lubricants distribution business in the North West of England. On a day to day basis Malcolm dedicates his time to ensuring AMW meets expectations with its existing client base as well as building and developing new relationships to mutual benefit. Building successful relationships in previous roles with major oil suppliers, oil tank manufacturers and lubricant suppliers has stood Malcolm in good stead to continue to progress within the petroleum related industry.
Andy Ross

E: 2011 - Andy joined AMW in January, having previously been a director and shareholder in a local land and commercial agency. Qualified as a Chartered Surveyor with 20 years' experience in working for major estates, property portfolio holders, local authorities, national trust and national parks. Andy is now able to focus on delivering a "one stop shop" approach for environmental needs for this sector. Andy's specialist knowledge combined with his RICS experience allows him to develop and manage his clients environmental and planning needs.
